Xavier Stewart

Army | Deceased Donor | National Guard

I am Xavier Stewart, a father of three amazing children. I served in the US Army for three years as a tanker (19k) and the Texas Army National Guard for seven years as an Administrative Specialist (42l). I was deployed twice to Kosovo and Macedonia, once while active duty and once while in the National Guard.

Once I got out the Army, I decided to become a pre-K Teacher for seven years and then I decided to pursue my dream job, which was to become a Claim Specialist for the VA. I moved to Cranston, Rhode Island from my hometown of Albany, GA to work for the Providence VA.

In the process of working my dream job, I discovered my passion, which is helping veterans and homeless veterans with their VA benefits. I show them how to file their claims, teach them how to articulate their words when filing a claim, and I feed them at least once a month. Now that I retired in 2022 after twenty years of Federal government service, I continue to live out my passion.

In 2011, I was first diagnosed with kidney disease. Over the next nine years, my kidneys continued to decline, and I became reliant on dialysis in November 2020 for my survival until I receive a kidney transplant.

I keep living life the best I can and enjoy traveling, sporting events, and watching movies. I love being around large bodies of water, bowling and shooting pool. My family is very important to me, and I want to be there for my kids as they continue moving through their adult years.

For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the Xavier’s evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save ‘s life with the other!

Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
