My name is William Hall. I am an Army veteran of 14 years, enlisting in 1977. I served in the US and overseas as a Military Police Officer and Transportation Specialist. Following my service, I was employed by FedEx and Home Depot before training to become an EMT to help others. I enjoyed that job every day until retirement. After retirement, I worked at our local hospital for several years. I have run 2 full marathons and several shorter races. I told patients that the saying on the back of my marathon shirt, “I RUN FOR THOSE WHO CAN’T”, was for them, and that I would always be thinking of them as I crossed each finish line.

Now, I need someone to run for me.

My wife, our combined family, and friends would love to help me cross another finish line. The diagnosis of Chronic Kidney Disease has impacted all of our lives, coming fast and unexpectedly. The average wait time for a deceased donor kidney is 5+ years. Another option is for volunteers to be carefully screened as a living kidney donor, or to share my story with others. I am seeking a kidney donor so that I can live a normal life and spend time enjoying our children and grandchildren. I enjoy watching sunsets every night, and one of my favorite sayings is “Sunsets are proof that not all endings are bad.”

Living kidney donation has been proven to be safe.  There are no long term consequences to the donor.  After recovery, donors can live a normal life with one kidney.

DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the  evaluation or surgery.
