Waiting

Wayne R. Bill is a Vietnam Veteran. After college in 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following basic training, he reported to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma for AIT and OCS (Officer Candidate School). As an officer, his first assignment was Ft. Bliss, Texas, an Air Defense Artillery Base. After one year, he was shipped to Vietnam as a platoon leader in a M42 Duster and Quad 50 Battery. Wayne served in the 1/44th Artillery Battalion stationed near the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) for a one-year tour of duty.

After his honorable discharge in 1970, Wayne returned to college at Central Missouri State and received his MBA. He began working for Swift Meat Company. After three years, he moved to Ames, Iowa as a partner in a fresh meat business. Wayne would move to take a position with Ralston Purina as District Sales Manager. After 20 years with Purina, Wayne began working as an International Marketing Specialist with the Department of Agriculture for the State of Missouri. Wayne spent 10 years with the department before retiring in 2010.

Wayne and his wife, Betty, have been married for 55 years. Wayne enjoys watching his son play tennis in California. His granddaughter, Reese, entertains him by playing beach and indoor volleyball; his grandson, Eli, challenges him with video games. Playing golf is Wayne’s true passion, but he wears out quickly. He walks and exercises at Legends, a city recreational center. Wayne enjoys going to the VFW to volunteer and hang out. With the gift of a new kidney, he would love to do more work around the house, volunteer, and play longer rounds of golf!

In 2021, Wayne was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease (ANCA Vasculitis) that attacked his kidneys and has since been on dialysis. He says the dialysis can leave him feeling fatigued, and does come with restrictions living his life. Will you help Wayne in receiving a living kidney transplant by sharing his story of service to our country or consider becoming a kidney donor and giving him the chance to live a life as fully as he can?

Wayne has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.

A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call 551-233-1611.
