STATUS:

Received! Deceased Donor 10/19/23

Rodney Burch is an 8-year Navy Veteran who spent two years in school learning how to be a nuclear
operator and served three years on the USS Benjamin Franklin. From there he was an instructor at
the Nuclear Power School for three years and finished his military service in 1979 as the Lead
Instructor for Chemical and Radiological Controls. It is no surprise that Rodney’s civilian career
took him down a similar path. He retired, after 37 years, as a Nuclear Plant Supervisor from VC
Summer, in Jenkinsville, SC. Rodney and his wife, Lisa, met at VC Summer and have been
married for 24 years, raised three sons, and have one granddaughter.

Rodney is in need of a second kidney transplant. Lisa was his first kidney donor 23 years ago
and is now his caregiver again as he waits for another. He suffers from glomerulonephritis,
which has caused his need for a transplant both times. Rodney and Lisa have enjoyed working
together at their job and working on a rescue squad team, with Lisa as the EMT and Rodney as
the driver.

Help Rodney get back to doing the things he enjoys – camping, working with rescue dogs,
puttering around in his shop, and enjoying his granddaughter. John has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.

A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call (551) 233-1611. Thank you.
