Randall Hackett is Vietnam Veteran who enlisted in the Navy in 1968, attended Corpsman School, and worked for one year at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. He served on a ship for a year and spent ten months in Vietnam as a medic with the Marines of Hotel Co 2/5/1.
After his military service, Randall used his GI Bill and received his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. He worked for 20 years at a regional bank in Pennsylvania working his way up to Operations Officer before moving to Missouri. Randall worked for 8 years as a consultant for Community Banks. After his retirement in 2010, he moved back to PA. Randall and his wife Aggie have been married for 52 years and have three sons and five grandchildren. He is the treasurer of his local chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America and is a lover of fishing, hunting, and all things wood. He has crafted cradles, beds, picture frames, and much more!
Randall began having medical issues on Thanksgiving of 2017 sending him to the hospital. Lab work found his creatinine high, and he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD). He has been able to stay off dialysis so far with the help of Aggie watching his diet closely. Randall has been battling fatigue from having a low production of red blood cell counts and has been receiving shots to improve his health.
Randall has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
