Waiting

Kevin Drohan really enjoyed the five years he served in the US Navy from 1990 to 1995 seeing the world and the sea. His first ship was the USS Iwo Jima, which he had toured as a 10-year-old boy, and worked in the boiler/engine room spending most of his time in the oil lab. After the ship’s decommissioning, Kevin went to NDT school and served on the USS McKee inspecting nuclear reactors and their components; he especially enjoyed serving on the firefighting teams on both ships. He wanted to reenlist, but he needed to care for his family and medical issues.

After the Navy, Kevin went to work for Boeing inspecting floor assemblies for the 747 and 777 aircraft. In 2000, he went back to school and received degrees in computer programming and accounting. Kevin worked in accounting until 2023 when his kidneys began to fail, and he needed to begin dialysis making it difficult for him to work.

Kevin has been blessed with two adult sons, a grandson, and a wonderfully supportive girlfriend, Megan. He loves to do puzzles and enjoys bowling, ax throwing, movies, crafts, cooking, and spending time with his dog Gizmo, Megan, and his family. He continues to move forward with life and after a kidney transplant, he wants to go back to work!

Kevin has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.

A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call (551) 233-1611.
