STATUS:

Received - Deceased Kidney Donor!

Jim Smith is a USMC Veteran. He has been married for 23 years to his wife Joy and is a proud dad and grandfather. Jim also has been employed full time with the Suffern NY Central School District where is serves as the Custodial Supervisor.

Jim continues to work full time, however due to his worsening kidney disease it is becoming difficult for him to keep up. While he is not yet on dialysis he is getting prepared to start. Jim's doctors feel he is an excellent candidate for a kidney transplant. However the wait for a kidney from a deceased donor can be over 5 years long.
A living kidney donor would give Jim the best chance to live a long life free from dialysis. He is hopeful a kidney transplant will enable him to continue fishing with his 7 grandchildren and watch them grow and thrive.
Living kidney donation is safe for donors who are medically cleared. The medical evaluation is covered by the transplant center. Costs related to lost wages, travelled are reimbursed as well.

Veterans like Jim have put their lives on the line for the country and communities. What better way to show our appreciation than to be their hero - by donating a kidney in their time of need.
