STATUS:
Waiting
Christopher Crowell is a Veteran who enlisted in the Army right after High School in 1990. 63BH8 was his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), working as a light wheeled vehicle mechanic and recovery vehicle operator. He served in Korea and Desert Storm.
Christopher has lived in the Houston area with his wife of 25 years, Tosha, and his 13 year old son, Gabe. He has been working in the Refining, Petrochemical, Chemical and Pipeline Industries for 25 years starting as a field technician, Equipment Center Manager and now as a Service Line Manager providing technical support worldwide.
What many of Christopher's community and colleagues may not know is that he is suffering from end stage kidney disease. This has left him feeling extremely fatigued. His condition has deteriorated where he needs to undergo a kidney transplant. Until then he is reliant on hemodialysis three days a week for four hours a day to survive.
Transplantation is the best option as it gives the best chance for Christopher to live a long life, free from the constraints and debilitating side effects of dialysis. However the wait for a kidney from a deceased donor is over 5 years long. He may not survive that long wait. Christopher needs to find a living kidney donor.
His wife Tosha hoped she could be his donor - but she was devastated to learn she was unable due to an anatomical issue with her kidney.
Kidney donation is safe for those who are medically cleared. The testing is covered by the VA Medical Center.
Christopher has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization: DOVETransplant.org to help with outreach and will ensure all prospective donors have full support and financial coverage for any non-medical expenses (travel, lodging, lost wages).
Healthy donors live completely normal lives with one kidney and they can save a Veteran's life with their donated kidney. To learn more about donation please contact DOVE by clicking the link below OR you may call (551) 233-1611. Please share Christophers story to raise awareness and help find his life saving donor. Thank you!
