Hi, I’m Thomas. I served six and a half years in the United States Army working in personnel management. During my service, I was stationed in Karlsruhe, Germany and HQARMCOM in Rock Island, Illinois. I completed PLC training with the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. I was honorably discharged as an E-5 promotable. I was very active in company sports and truly enjoyed the camaraderie and sense of brotherhood that came with military life. During my service, I received two Army Commendation Medals, two Good Conduct Medals, an Army Achievement Medal, several Certificates of Achievement, and Soldier of the Month awards.
After leaving the military, I continued using my leadership and personnel management skills in the private sector for many years. Unfortunately, due to my medical condition, I have been disabled for quite some time and am currently considered 100% service-connected disabled.
I have been married to my wife, Cheryl, for 35 years. She is my rock and has always been there for me through every challenge and every need. Together, we have a son named John and three beautiful granddaughters—Madison, Charlotte, and Kelsey—who stay active in sports and dance competitions and bring so much joy to our lives.
I am currently on dialysis and have been for the past 19 months. My kidney function has been declining over the last 20 years, and I now have only about 16% combined kidney function remaining.
I have been a Christian my entire life, and I truly believe God still has more for me to accomplish if I am blessed with a new kidney.
Some of my favorite hobbies are wood carving, fishing, woodworking, and furniture making. Unfortunately, dialysis takes away much of your energy and makes it difficult to continue doing the things you once loved most.
We need you to help us support Thomas. Whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, you can make a profound impact!
Living kidney donation has been proven to be safe. There are no long term consequences to the donor. After recovery, donors can live a normal life with one kidney.
DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
