Terence Newton

Combat | Deceased Donor | Navy

Terence Newton is a 59-year-old retired Religious Programs Specialist Senior Chief, who served his country for over 33 years in the US Navy. He completed 8 combat deployments on USS TRENTON (LPD-14), USS MOUNT WHITNEY (LCC-20), USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN-75), USS GEORGE H. W. BUSH (CVN-77), as well as 2 deployments with the Marines.

He has also been active in his church and community most of his life serving as a trustee, coach, mentor and band parent and sports booster for many years. After retiring, he hit the road for a live-long dream of becoming a tractor trailer operator. He also worked part-time as a school bus driver. Today, he remains a full-time school bus driver and has been licensed for more than 40 years.

As a family man, he is the youngest of 5 boys who love to cook. He has been married to his “junior high” sweetheart for more than 35 years and has 3 children. Shortly after his oldest son was born with enlarged kidneys, is when he was diagnosed with kidney disease himself. He has remained active and healthy as possible throughout the years. He has taught aerobics classes, spin classes, enjoyed swimming, bowling, tennis and running, occasionally. He is currently not on dialysis and is hopeful, with the gift of living donor, he will never have to start.

Reflecting back over his life and career, he is humbled and grateful for each and every one he has positively touched and given to in some way. Now he’s prayerful and hopeful that there is someone out there that is willing to give back and save his life.

For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save Terence’s life with the other!

Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
