Ted Williams

Hi, this Ted Williams.

I am 70 years old. I have been on dialysis for over a year and a half.

I started my military career with a three-year tour in Gelhausen Germany. As a second lieutenant, I was a platoon leader of a mechanized infantry unit. After my tour of duty in Germany, I returned to Fort Benning Georgia where I was promoted to Captain and commanded the Infantry Command’s Headquarters Company.

After eight and a half years, I left the Army and started working in the food service industry as a manager. For over twenty years I served at various levels in that industry.

My kidney function first started to decline when I was a young army officer on active duty in Germany. I developed kidney stones and subsequently high blood pressure.

I have been on the kidney transplant list for four years. That is why I need your help. I also know that it is a “Big Ask” to request that you get involved in improving my health, but if I have learned anything about life till this point, it is that nothing can improve without the help of good family and friends.

I retired three years ago. However, the dialysis has slowed me down a little. I am looking forward to getting back to my active life of hiking and swimming.

For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the  evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save Ted‘s life with the other!

Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
