My name is Steve Jones, and I was a combat engineer in the Army. My favorite part of my service was going into the fields for combat duty. I also enjoyed my time overseas in Germany, connecting with the locals. After the military, I moved into the medical field as an instrument technician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital for 39 years. I have since retired, but I enjoyed my time teaching junior technicians and nurses about the instrumentation for surgeries.
I have been married to my beautiful wife, Joan, for 34 years, and we have 3 amazing children, 8 grandchildren, and an energetic great-grandchild. I was diagnosed with kidney disease seven years ago, right after my retirement. It severely progressed, and I learned I had stage five kidney disease in the spring of 2024. I am now on dialysis three times a week and have a lack of energy that limits my daily activities. I’m unable to receive a kidney from my family because my wife and daughter have had breast cancer, and other family members have health limitations.
I enjoy going to church, doing yard work, traveling with my family, and playing with the grandchildren whenever possible. Hopefully, after a transplant, I can go back to traveling with my wife and visiting my family around the country and the Caribbean. Will you join DOVE in our mission to find a kidney for me? Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on my life and the life of my family!
Steve has enlisted the help of a Veteran’s organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran’s life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call (551) 233-1611.
