Shamar Greene

I served in the US Army from January 1991 to June 2000. I was stationed at Fort Carson from 92 to 95, Fort Hood from 95 to 96 and Fort Bragg from 96 until I completed my service. I was assigned to 124th Signal Battalion of the 4 Infantry Division as a Supply Clerk, until I received a permanent change of station to Fort Hood briefly as part of the 1st Cavalry Division and then finished my career at the 82nd Airborne Division at 3rd/319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment. I enjoyed being a paratrooper, because I thought at one point I was invincible!

After I left the military in June 2000, I began working at AutoZone and remained there for 14 years as a Store Manager and worked for other aftermarket auto parts companies like Advance Auto Parts. I currently work as a Regional Loss Prevention Auditor at O’Reilly Auto Parts for the last 6 years, covering Maryland, Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia investigating losses in about 79 locations. I believe the team members I work for make it easier for me to do my job, even now.

I was diagnosed in 2006 with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and received my first kidney transplant in 2010. After 13 years I began losing kidney function again and unfortunately, in January of 2023, I needed to go back on dialysis and am now doing periodontal dialysis.

I have been married to my wonderful wife Stacey for 31 years, who I met at Fort Carson, Colorado. We have been blessed with three adult boys and seven grandchildren. I would really like to travel the United States and see all the beauty it has, and I love to fish! My favorite species to fish for are bass, crappie and bluegill! After receiving the gift of a kidney transplant, I would like to travel the nation and go fishing!

For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save Shamar’s life with the other!

Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
