Hello, my name is Ronnie Williams. I proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. During my military career, I worked as both a 1371 Combat Engineer and a 3041 Supply Administration Marine. Both positions were rewarding and allowed me to serve my fellow Marines in meaningful ways.
As a Combat Engineer, I worked alongside different units, providing the support they needed to accomplish their missions. My responsibilities included establishing landing zones (LZs), building base camps, helping construct roads, and completing a variety of engineering projects. As a 3041 Supply Administration Marine, my role was to ensure that units had everything necessary to complete their missions. From food and equipment parts to other essential supplies, I was responsible for helping maintain mission readiness and supporting Marines in the field. During my military career, I was stationed in Okinawa, the Philippines, Korea, Turkey, Spain, and Cuba. I received the Good Conduct Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon with two stars, and several Letters of Appreciation.
After leaving the Marine Corps, I worked in janitorial maintenance and assisted with asbestos and lead paint removal from schools and other buildings. Later, I discovered a passion for cooking. After gaining experience in the fast-food industry, I attended culinary school and worked at a retirement community. I eventually returned to Jacksonville, North Carolina, where I cooked for my fellow Marines at the Marine Corps Air Station.
Today, I am attending Springfield Technical Community College, where I am studying social work. My goal is to help young men between the ages of 13 and 21 navigate life’s challenges, develop confidence, and build successful futures. I am passionate about mentoring youth and giving back to my community. I also enjoy volunteering with veterans and supporting those who have served our country. Through social work, I hope to make a positive impact on the lives of both young people and veterans. Faith and service are important parts of my life.
I am proud to say that I have been married to my best friend, Linda, for 38 years. Linda served eight years in the United States Marine Corps, and it was during our military service that we met. She has been my partner through every stage of life and is the person who keeps me grounded on this journey. Together, we have five wonderful children: our sons, Ronnie Jr. and Rayn, and our daughters, Trasonya, Ashley, and Briana. We are also blessed with several grandchildren who bring joy, laughter, and pride to our family.
Trasonya has four sons. Fred, the oldest, is on his way to college. Prince is focused on continuing his education, Kam’ar has a strong interest in science, and Marley loves sports. They are all setting great examples for the younger generation.
Briana is married to Desajour, who also served in the Marine Corps. They have two children, including my only granddaughter, Imani, who always knows how to make her Papa laugh.
My children and grandchildren keep me young, and they are a constant source of pride and joy in my life. Throughout my life, whether serving in the Marine Corps, working in my community, supporting veterans, mentoring young people, or spending time with my family, I have always believed in serving others and leaving a positive impact wherever I can.
