Roger Alan Anderson

Army | Deceased Donor

Roger Alan Anderson

DOB August 13, 1952.

Born in Green Bay, WI

I have been married to my wife Nancy for 38 years. We have one son and two granddaughters. They are straight A students, both currently in college and doing well. They live in Florida, so we don’t get to see them much. When COVID hit, our vacations to Florida stopped. All other getaways were limited to weekends only.

When I was young, I was always curious about how things worked, disassembling and reassembling things. I rebuilt a Ford V8 motor when I was 16, it ran like a top. Being a mechanic prepared me for a 39-year career as a machinist/programmer at a local paper company. I enjoyed transforming a piece of metal (or other material) into an intricate usable part for a machine build. I retired in 2014 from Paper Converting Machine Company here in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

My wife and I are avid golfers. We love to travel to Florida and stay for the whole month of April at various resorts on the gulf side. Relaxing on the beach, having a cocktail and celebrating our wedding anniversary. When we would vacation up here in Wisconsin, we loved staying on the Eagle River Chain of Lakes, always having a cabin with a boat on the water. We also enjoy watching the Green Bay Packers and maybe attend a game or two.

In 1970 I enlisted in the US Army. My basic training was at Ft Campbell, Kentucky. My AIT was at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. My permanent duty station was overseas in Germany at McKee Barracks 5/73 field artillery for 2.5 years just outside a town called Crailsheim. My MOS was 63B20 (wheel vehicle mechanic). I was in charge of the motor pool during my time there. We also had an infantry battalion next to us. I was honorably discharged in 1973.

Around 1988 I was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease (PKD). My kidneys slowly deteriorated to the point where my kidney function had to be addressed, and I started dialysis in April 2024. I will be reliant on it for my survival until a living donor is found and I receive a kidney transplant. I have been on the transplant waiting list since June of 2022 and hoping to get good news soon!

For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save Roger’s life with the other!

Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
