First Class Petty Officer Reginald “Reggie” Davis served in the US Navy for 20 years before his retirement in 1999; his first 16 years as a machinist mate, and the last four years as a military police officer. He also served during the Kuwaiti Liberation Conflict, Desert Shield, and Desert Storm supplying the troops on the ground and those in submarines with ammunition, food, and fuel.

Since his retirement, Reggie has been working as a government contractor inspecting submarines and is still working 40 hours/week but does less traveling due to his kidney issues. His exercise comes from all the walking he does during his inspections!

Reggie and Annette, his wife of 43 years, have two daughters and four grandchildren. They ran a daycare for 15 years serving military mothers and fathers who needed a great place for their children to go while working. Reggie is active in his church and would love to get back to: bowling, fishing, hunting, and doing community service on behalf of veterans.

Reggie battled diabetes and high blood pressure, then in 2021 received a Covid shot and was on medication. Shortly thereafter, his blood work and a kidney biopsy revealed he was in kidney failure, forcing him to immediately start dialysis, and has been relying on it for the past two years. Annette and one of their daughters started the evaluation process to donate but were not medically cleared.

For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save Reggi’s life with the other!

Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
