My job in the USMC was in Aviation Power Plants. I specialized in building the engine for AV-8B Harrier. I enjoyed working with the squadron and especially remember my times deployed in Japan. What I enjoyed the most in my time in the USMC, was the comradery with my brothers. I was medically retired in 2001 after 12 years in the USMC as a Staff Sergeant.
In my civilian life, I’m currently a Business Operations Manager at Carmax Auto Superstore. What gives me satisfaction is developing talent into my company’s next generation of leaders.
I am married to my wife of 17 years. I have 3 children and 1 grandson. My oldest daughter works in Psychiatry. My middle daughter is an RN in Las Vegas, and my youngest son is a CAN and got married last year. He married a young lady who has a daughter, so I became a grandfather for the second time last year.
I was diagnosed with kidney disease in 1996. In 2004, I began my 1st round of dialysis and received my 1st kidney from my younger brother in 2005. That kidney lasted me 20 years and unfortunately has expired. I am currently on dialysis with a chest catheter which hinders my ability to engage in any physical activity.
