DOVE Veteran Named Community Hero of the Year

Ed Roldan, Army Veteran and flag football coach received the Community Hero of the Year Award from USA Football for 2023.

We are in awe of all Ed has done for his country and community. He served as a Combat Medical Specialist in the

and received an Army Commendation Medal for saving a fellow soldier’s life.

In 1999, Ed founded the Southeast Bronx Youth Coalition Inc. to enhance the quality of life for all young people with an emphasis on the special needs of boys and girls who might be economically, socially, and recreationally deprived.

"Coach Ed " now serves on the USA Football League Advisory Council. Ed continues this work despite having end-stage renal disease and relying on dialysis at the Bronx VA several days a week. Join us in congratulating Ed - very well deserved!
