Successful Kidney Donation Story Causes Ripple Effect
Two years ago on July 15, 2021, Detective Jon Postawa donated his kidney to a fellow Detective and Army Veteran Damon Hewin. This past Saturday, they celebrated their second "kidneyversary" alongside their families.
Damon and Jon were initially reluctant to share their transplant story. Once they realized the impact of their message, that they could help others in need and inspire others, they were all in.
Local news coverage in Seattle had a ripple effect across the nation, leading directly to 15 more living donor transplants for veterans registered with DOVE; and it keeps growing! Team #31 is currently scheduled for surgery in mid-August.
We are celebrating this special occasion with Jon, Damon, and their families, and we are grateful to them for all they continue to do to support DOVE and raise awareness about kidney donation.
