Mike Mizell

Mike Mizell is a Combat veteran who served 22 Years as an Army Transportation officer (retiring in 2007).  As a transportation officer, he was responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the deployment, sustainment, and redeployment of military forces and supplies supporting combat operations worldwide.  During his service, he participated in combat operations such as Operations Just Cause, Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Enduring Freedom.  What he enjoyed the most (and misses) was providing leadership and professional development to the troops.

After his retirement in 2007, Mike continued supporting the troops as a government contractor at Joint Base Langley/Eustis, Fort Eustis, Virginia.  Today, he still serve as a government contractor because nothing gives him more satisfaction than supporting the brave men and women who protect our freedoms.

Mike is not married, but he is the proud father of an incredible young woman; an amazing dental hygienist who’s studying to become a dentist. She chose the health care profession because she too loves making a difference in someone’s life.

Mike was first diagnosed with kidney disease in 2020.  The diagnosis was a result of a routine 90-day bloodwork that always showed very good results for everything.  Needless to say, the diagnosis completely blindsided him.  It didn’t take long for the disease to progress from stage 3 to stage 5.  To date, his total time on dialysis/kidney wait list is 3yrs-10mon and 4yrs-10mon respectively.  He is very thankful that through it all, he hasn’t had any physical limitations.

One of Mike’s biggest hobbies is volunteering as a travel ball/high school softball coach for the last 20yrs. He would like to return to the field once he has received a transplant.

We need you to help us support Mike.  Whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor,  you can make a profound impact!
