My name is Mark Young, and I served in the US Air Force as an NCO Sergeant as a 63150 Fuels Specialist, and 55230 Apprentice. My jobs included the delivery of various fuel types, liquid oxygen storage, and maintenance of fuel supply equipment and vehicles. My Carpentry stint was part of a job reassignment when I became ill and had to be cross trained until my Air Force career ended.

After 20 years of service, I retired from the US Postal Service. I worked as a letter carrier delivering mail and packages using various types of vehicles, until several vehicle accidents and an on-the-job injury put me into retirement.

I am a proud father of seven beautiful children. They are all smart and gifted children that keep my life busy and occupied. Four young women and three young men, one a doctor / OBGYN, one a Biology Major/ Business, one a Future Pilot, one pursuing a Medical Specialist Degree, one a Paramedic and a 16-year-old high schooler, who is a Cambridge Program Scholar.

My kidney issues began some years ago around 1998, and about four years ago, they began to worsen. I am Stage 4 and so far, have been staying steady. I’m not a diabetic or on dialysis thus far and have been strictly following my health regimen and doctors’ requirements.

My passion is learning and expanding my knowledge, since my children and friends deem me as a well learned and educated person. I am a church member and a Sunday school teacher. I enjoy reading and studying the Bible and its truths and mysteries.

For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the  evaluation or surgery.
