My name is Larry Harkleroad. During my service in the United States Navy from 1972 to 1976, I served as an Aviation Maintenance Administration man/ advancing to the rank of Petty Officer Third Class (E‑4). I spent most of my tour stationed in Jacksonville, Florida, supporting naval aviation operations by managing aircraft maintenance records, technical documentation, and readiness reports essential to safe and efficient flight operations. In 1975, I deployed to Iceland, where the demanding environment and mission tempo strengthened my skills in accuracy, coordination, and teamwork. Those four years shaped my discipline, broadened my perspective, and remain a defining chapter marked by professional growth, camaraderie, and a commitment to service. After completing my military service, I transitioned into civilian life by investing in my education through the GI Bill, earning credentials in Accounting that set the foundation for a long and steady professional career. My first two decades were spent in the accounting field, I then expanded into operations management, spending 15 years as a Regional Manager for a major convenience store chain. Helping others grow and develop their careers was a passion of mine during this time. I was married for 22 years until being widowed in 2017. Golf has been something I have enjoyed since the Navy, playing on the squadron golf team. I also walk several miles every morning.  I am currently in stage 5 kidney disease, I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease in August of 2019. I started dialysis in December of 2022, while I was in the hospital with covid. I am currently on the active waiting list for a kidney transplant at Atrium Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina, the VA Hospitals in Chicago, Illinois, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I continue to stay active and connected to help myself get a new kidney.
