Kevin Tomberlin

Living Donor | Marine Corps | Police Officer

I am an honorably discharged veteran of The United States Marine Corps, and I served as a part of 2nd Battalion / 10th Marines at Camp Lejeune, NC. From 1993-1997 as an Artillery Fire Direction Controlman.

When I exited from the military I was employed as a truck driver by Southeastern Freight Lines as a local delivery driver. I always had a passion for law enforcement, so at the age of 43, I was hired as a Florida State Trooper. I have now been promoted to Sergeant with The Florida Highway Patrol, and I am currently stationed in Pinellas County, Florida.

I am a husband to a beautiful and very supportive wife, father of four awesome children, and grandfather to three amazing grandchildren. I am a Florida native and was born in Tampa. My family and I live in the area of Riverview, Florida.

We have two children still living in the house and we love to camp outdoors and enjoy the fresh air. We just purchased a new camper and are hoping to spend some quality time with the kids before they are grown. I try to keep up with everything, but since battling polycystic kidney disease (PKD), I now get fatigued easily and my energy is limited. We are outdoorsy people, and we all love to fish and hunt or just relax at a wooded campsite away from the distractions of life.

We cannot venture far from the house due to my kidneys so if I am able to get a kidney transplant our plan is to take some longer trips with the new camper and show the kids some interesting places. I would love to have the energy to experience the outdoors with my kids like I have visualized in my mind. I grew up with grandparents that made a lot of memories with me fishing and camping and I want to pass that down to my children.

“I am a believer in Jesus Christ and I believe whatever the outcome of my kidney disease is His will for my life.”

For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save Kevin’s life with the other!

Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
