My name is Jyron, and I proudly served in the United States Navy as a Dental Corps officer, first as a dental student and later as a Navy dentist. I was stationed at the 32nd Street Naval Clinic in San Diego, California, where I had the privilege of caring for new recruits before they reported to their permanent duty stations. One of the greatest gifts of my military service was the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. Many of those friendships have lasted a lifetime, and I remain grateful for the relationships and experiences my service provided.

After completing my military service, I returned home to Houston, Texas, where I opened a dental practice in the same neighborhood where I was raised. Serving my former neighbors, teachers, friends, and family has been one of the greatest joys of my career. Because our community is considered underserved, I’ve always felt a deep sense of purpose in providing quality dental care close to home and giving back to the community that helped shape me.

I have been blessed to share life with my wife, Dolores, a former Navy nurse, for the past 36 years. Together, we have raised three wonderful children, and one of my greatest joys has been welcoming our daughter into the practice as a fellow dentist three years ago. Working alongside her has been an incredible blessing and a reminder of how meaningful it is to build a legacy of service.

In February 2026, after many years of living with hypertension, my kidneys completely failed. I began nightly home peritoneal dialysis, which has become part of my daily routine. While I am thankful for the treatment that keeps me alive, dialysis is not a cure. A kidney transplant would allow me to regain my health, my energy, and the freedom to fully enjoy life again.

Outside of dentistry, I enjoy coaching youth volleyball and mentoring young people. Watching so many of my players earn college scholarships through their academic achievements and volleyball skills has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I also love fishing along the Gulf Coast and traveling to cheer on former players as they continue their volleyball careers at the collegiate level.

Kidney disease is a challenge, but it does not define me. I remain hopeful and grateful for each day. A kidney transplant would not just improve my health, it would give me the opportunity to continue serving my patients, mentoring young athletes, spending time with my family, and embracing the life I love.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering the incredible gift of living kidney donation. It could truly give me a new beginning.
