Staff Sergeant Joseph Quiles is a husband and father who served with the New Jersey Army National Guard for 21 years in a Motor Transport Unit. He was called up for active duty for four of those years during the Iraq War, serving one year in Iraq, stationed at Fort Dix as force protection, and was retrained as Military Police and operated in a detainee operations environment within the Iraqi theater.

Joe retired in 2024 after 25 years of service with The Department of Corrections in New Jersey. With Lake Hopatcong in his backyard, he has easy access to the things he loves: swimming, boating, and fishing. He enjoys helping others and continues to do what he can.

Joe has been diagnosed with FSGS (focal segmental glomerulosclerosis), a kidney disease that causes scar tissue to form and the kidneys fail. He started peritoneal dialysis (PD) in September 2024 and is now reliant on it for his survival. Joe has quietly fought this illness for over 20 years and a new kidney would mean he can enjoy more time with his loved ones.

For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save Joe’s life with the other!

Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
