Hi, thank you for checking out my bio. My name is Jonathan Hicks, and I joined the United States Air Force in May of 2001, a few months before 9/11. I served six years with the 159th Fighter Wing in the Civil Engineering Squadron as an Electrical Systems Specialist as well as augmented for Security Forces. While enlisted I was deployed overseas to Baghdad, Iraq and served during OIF/ OEF better known as Operation Iraqi and Operation Enduring Freedom.
While in theater, we supported the task force that was responsible for the removal of Saddam Hussein’s and his son’s regime. I also served and assisted in Operation Task Force Gator in New Orleans, La. Our mission was to support the New Orleans Police Department to assist in deterring crimes, in assigned areas throughout the city providing law and order during and after Hurricane Katrina.
During my enlistment I was recognized several times receiving multiple awards and recognition including being promoted to E-5 before separating due to my father being diagnosed with cancer.
As a civilian I’ve worked multiple jobs including retail, loss prevention, security and most recently and currently working and serving veterans at the VA hospital. Having the opportunity to help people and being part of the legacy and history to provide support for other veterans and their families brings me satisfaction every day at work.
A little bit about me. I am a 43-year-old male married to my gorgeous wife Shawanda, and we have two children, one 20 and the other 16 years old. Both of them are smart, active, and athletic. The older one is in college and is a Drum Major in a popular HBCU band and is studying to be a music composer for big screen movies and television. The younger one is a high school football player, runs track and wants to be a lawyer. I love GOD and my family. I like sports, reading, music, traveling, and meeting new people.
I was diagnosed with stage 5 (CKD) chronic kidney disease in 2020 and had to undergo urgent dialysis surgery in order to survive. As a result of this disease, I need a new kidney.
With your help it would be a blessing to receive a kidney through the Dove program to extend my life so I can continue to be of service to my family as a husband, father and friend to others.
Being able to continue to love my wife and raise our boys into GOD fearing, educated and upstanding citizens, I believe is every husband and father’s greatest accomplishment and more importantly, a necessity during this time in our fast-paced changing world. Thank you again for your time for reading my bio and consideration and efforts if you decide in your heart to help me. GOD bless you and your family.
