With over 43 years of military service, I’ve dedicated my life to protecting and serving—both at home and abroad. I’ve been deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Iraq, and served across the country in various roles as a Military Police officer and in Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical operations. I also earned instructor qualifications with both the U.S. Army and Air Force, mentoring the next generation of service members.

In civilian life, I wore many hats. I worked in public education in the audio/visual field, managed fast food restaurants and trained new employees, and even served as a lifeguard in my younger years (and again as an adult). My experience also includes time with FW Dodge Report, supporting the construction and architecture industries with reporting services.

Since March 2022, I’ve been reliant on peritoneal dialysis (PD) to keep my body functioning until I receive a kidney transplant and get back to normal life again. I’ve experienced the highs and lows of this journey, including a call to standby for transplant—only to learn the kidneys weren’t viable. Still, I remain hopeful.

I’m walking this road with the love and strength of my wife Jennifer, our children Rachel, Matthew, Jeremy, and Jessica. Their support has been my anchor, and with God’s help, I know this chapter will lead to a new beginning.

Outside of work and service, I’m a lifelong reader who enjoys writing poetry and short stories. I’m passionate about community theater in Northwest Ohio and have even directed productions with my family. One day soon, I look forward to being back in the water—healthy, whole, and grateful.

For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save John’s life with the other!

Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
