My name is James Rogers. I am a retired Air Force Veteran, currently living with Stage 5 kidney disease. Life has changed drastically for me. I rely on dialysis three times a week—Monday, Wednesday, and Friday—for four hours and fifteen minutes each session. Simple pleasures I once enjoyed, like cruises, airline trips, outings with family and friends, and fishing trips, are no longer possible. Most of the time, I feel confined to my home, like a prisoner.

Stage 5 kidney disease is severe and life-threatening. At this stage, my kidneys can no longer filter waste and excess fluid from my blood, causing dangerous toxins to build up. This condition brings a range of debilitating symptoms, including loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, headaches, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, itching, minimal or no urine output, muscle cramps, tingling in my hands and feet, changes in skin color, and increased pigmentation.

I am in urgent need of a kidney transplant. Unfortunately, my family cannot be donors due to their own medical issues. A living kidney donor could change my life. The process involves contacting the Transplant Center, completing an evaluation, undergoing surgery in the hospital, and following up with recovery care. The Transplant Center I am working with is the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA as well as VCU Health Hume-Lee Transplant Center, Richmond, VA.  If you are interested in being my living kidney donor, please reach out to DOVE for their help facilitating. Travel and lost wages may be reimbursable.

A living kidney donor would give me the gift of life and allow me to spend meaningful time with my family, doing the activities I love once again. I long to regain the freedom to travel, attend games, and enjoy hobbies that bring me joy, including golfing, fishing, bowling, cruising, photography, coin collecting, and playing darts. Long vacations with my family are something I deeply hope to experience again.

I am currently married and blessed with one son and one daughter. Your generosity in donating a kidney would mean more time, more memories, and a chance to live life fully again.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

We need you to help us support this Veteran. Whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor,  you can make a profound impact!

Living kidney donation has been proven to be safe.  There are no long term consequences to the donor.  After recovery, donors can live a normal life with one kidney.

DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the  evaluation or surgery.
