My name is James McLoughlin. I served in the NY Air National Guard in the early ‘70s during the Vietnam era. I was attached to the 106th Refueling Squadron as an administrative specialist maintaining records for the KC 97L Stratotankers – in flight refueling aircraft. I received an Honorable Discharge leaving the Guard as a Sergeant – E5.
I am retired after a long and successful career in sales with Pfizer, Xerox, Kodak, and Pitney Bowes.
I have been married to my wife Barbara for 50 wonderful years. We have four children and ten grandchildren. They are the loves of our life. We absolutely love being with them for vacations, games, everything. They have given us a new lease on life.
I am a heart transplant recipient and have been blessed with this gift for 8 years and still going strong. As a result, I know the tremendous sacrifice of donors and their families.
Now I am in that position again with a need for a kidney donor. I am in stage 4 renal disease. After starting dialysis in a center in April 2025, I am now performing perotineal dialysis at home, assisted by my wife. Unfortunately, there is no family or friend match for a donated kidney for me.
I am on a kidney transplant list with Hackensack Hospital in NJ. DOVE is such a wonderful program for veterans, and hopefully there is someone out there that may become my donor.
For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save Jim’s life with the other!
Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
