My name is Irwin Austin, and I was drafted and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War as a Stock Controller and Accounting Specialist (E4). During my time in the military, I enjoyed the physical aspects and the discipline, as well as being able to handle a rifle.

I worked for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in many jobs but retired after 25 years as a Contact Representative who helped taxpayers resolve their tax problems. I am single with two children and one grandchild.

I was diagnosed with kidney disease in July of 2022 and am currently receiving dialysis treatment three days a week. Even though I need dialysis, I am doing well physically. I am hoping to find a donor so that I can enjoy the rest of my life with my family.

For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save Irwin’s life with the other!

Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
