I am a Disabled Army Veteran battling post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). l was assigned to Bravo Company 1/10 Calvary in Fort Carson, Colorado, and served state-side here in the US. After serving my two years of active- duty, I was given an honorable discharge as a Private First-Class.
I have been working in the medical field since 1977 and retired May 31, 2024, as an Operating Technician in CVOR. I enjoyed treating patients with various illnesses and helping them regain their health.
I have been married for 39 years to my wonderful wife who retired after 42 years of serving with Veterans Affairs. I have three grown children; my oldest daughter retired with (26+) years from the U.S. Navy as a CWO-4. As a civilian, she is now employed with the US Marine Corps. I have been blessed with four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In 2021, I was diagnosed with renal failure and am now working on finding a living kidney donor in hopes of receiving a life-saving kidney transplant. It will allow me to spend more time with my family and get back to living a normal life again.
I love to do research as a historian and work as a genealogist researching my family history and the history of others. Preserving our heritage is important.
For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save Homer’s life with the other!
Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
