Hi, I’m Greg. I served in the U.S. Navy as a Boiler Technician aboard the USS Constellation (CV-64) from 1987 to 1991, leaving the service after four years at the rank of E-4. While we were in dry dock at the start of Desert Storm and I didn’t see combat, my time in the Navy shaped me in lasting ways. What I valued most was getting to know people from all walks of life across this country. There was a closeness and sense of reliance on one another that you don’t fully appreciate until later—and that’s something I still miss.
After my military service, I used my GI Bill to earn a degree and build a career as a Project Manager for an AV integration company. On the personal side, life has come full circle in some pretty incredible ways—I’m now married to my high school sweetheart after reconnecting at our 30-year reunion, which still feels a little surreal. Between us, we have a blended family with one child of my own, three stepchildren, and a wonderful granddaughter who reminds me what life is really all about.
In October 2024, I was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease and have been on both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis since then. Over the past two years, I’ve spent several weeks in the hospital and have experienced a noticeable decline in my strength and stamina. It’s been a challenging adjustment, especially when it comes to the things I love most—fly fishing, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Dialysis and physical limitations have made those things harder, but my goal is to get back to them and reclaim that part of my life.
We need you to help us support Greg. Whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, you can make a profound impact!
Living kidney donation has been proven to be safe. There are no long term consequences to the donor. After recovery, donors can live a normal life with one kidney.
DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
