I worked in the US Navy as a Military Police Investigator and retired in 1999 with twenty years of Active Duty as an E-6. I am a Desert Shield/Desert Storm Veteran and received the Southwest Asia service medal (2), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia).
I also received the NATO Medal for service with NATO on Operations in relationship to the former Yugoslavia. I made several deployments to Europe and Mediterranean countries, and the highlight of my career was working Joint Security at Joint Base Andrews and an assignment at Naval District Washington.
My career as a civilian focused on Law Enforcement and Security/Asset Protection and worked for several Federal agencies. I had to rescind from working Law Enforcement/Security due to my kidney disease.
In 2013, I was diagnosed with cancer in both of my kidneys. Thankfully, the cancer was only in my kidneys and was not detected anywhere else. My first kidney was removed in 2014, and my second kidney was removed in 2022. I have been reliant on in-center hemodialysis since September 2022 and have been waiting for a kidney transplant since 2019.
I have been married to my wonderful wife Pamela for twenty years, and I have three living children and two granddaughters. Unfortunately, my mother and two of my kids have kidney disease and are unable to consider donating. My wonderful wife attempted to donate one of her kidneys to me but was unable.
I enjoy gardening and spending as much time as possible with my family and friends. I miss entertaining and traveling with my grand kids. We enjoyed camping and fishing prior to me losing both kidneys and I look forward to being able to do those again. I try to stay connected to my fellow veteran, so I am a member of the American Legion and Veteran of Foreign Wars
For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
