I am a 57-year-old single mother with one beautiful daughter, who served over six years in the US Air Force as a TMO Freight, E4 Sgt. I loved my time in the military traveling to other countries and meeting new people.
After receiving my honorable discharge, I worked at James A Haley Veterans’ Hospital as an Administrative Clerk. I am a people person and loved helping my fellow veterans. In 2015, after 17 years of employment, I need to leave due to my kidney disease complications.
In 2010 my life was abruptly halted by a rare kidney disease known as Glomerulonephritis. Having an overactive immune system attacked my kidneys causing a lot of symptoms, trial medications and depression, eventually finding myself reliant on dialysis to live.
In 2019, I received one of the greatest gifts I could imagine, a kidney transplant and a second chance at life. Unfortunately, it only lasted three years due to a virus that affected the new kidney, and I was forced back on dialysis. It has been an emotional roller coaster for me.
I like spending time with family, playing games, and listening to music. I can’t wait to get back to being myself; also, being able to travel, exercise, and go bowling! A kidney transplant would offer me more freedom and the ability to live a longer, healthier and more normal life. I am forever grateful and look forward to a new kidney donor match. Blessings to all!
