My 17th birthday was my first day of boot camp when I proudly began my military service in the United States Marine Corps. I worked as a cook in the mess hall and getting to work beside a great team of guys, who became my friends, was the best part. My service was during peace time and was cut short due to my health.
Upon my medical discharge in 1978, I was a die cut operator for a cardboard box
manufacturer until my arthritis forced me into disability. The medicines for my psoriatic arthritis and my diabetes have caused my kidney failure. I have been on the kidney transplant list since 2021 and started dialysis in November 2023.
I have been married to my wife Cindy for 47 years and she is my caregiver who administers my Home Hemodialysis four times a week, so I don’t have to go to a center. We have been blessed with two daughters that have grown into amazing young women both married to fine men. Our youngest daughter has blessed us with two grandsons ages 5 and 10.
I used to walk for leisure and exercise, and we would take family trips. If I were to receive the blessing of a transplant, it would give me the ability to do more with my grandsons. Really being able to play with them and traveling with them again would be a dream come true!
