My name is Dennis Case. I was born and raised in the Ozarks of Missouri. My small hometown was just a few miles outside the Army post, Fort Leonard Wood. That proximity gave me some insight into military life, and I decided that is what I wanted for my future.
While serving twenty years in the Air Force, I was stationed for ten years at Little Rock Air Force Base working on the Titan II ICBM missiles. After the Titan II was deactivated, I was reassigned to Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. There, I worked on the Titan IV missile and the IUS (Inertial Upper Stage) for the Titan IV as well as the Space Shuttle.
After retiring from the Air Force in 1994, I left my Air Force uniform at home and joined the civilian population working on the infrastructure on Cape Canaveral Air Station and Kennedy Space Center. As the contracts changed, I worked with different companies in different shops and sections.
In the early 2000’s my kidney function started to decrease and then in January of 2020, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). In July 2025, I have now progressed to Stage 5 kidney failure. Unfortunately, dialysis is in the near future. I saw my father live for eight years on dialysis and I’m hoping and praying I avoid it.
My high school sweetheart, Judy, and I have been married for almost 51 years. We have one son, and we get to see him and his wife about once a month. Since I began this kidney journey, and especially since being accepted to the transplant program, I have missed some of my favorite things.
Judy and I have always enjoyed traveling. We especially enjoyed traveling to North Carolina in the fall to watch the trees change color and to Missouri to see our families. Another favorite thing to do is fishing, especially since I’m living in Florida surrounded by all kinds of water. Sadly, I’m not able to enjoy traveling and fishing right now, but with a kidney transplant, I will.
Thank you for considering helping me or any of the many other veterans needing a kidney.
