I served five and a half years as an Administrative Clerk in the Marine Corps. During my tenure, I was primarily responsible for handling permanent change of station orders and transitioning members to retirement or separation from service. I found great satisfaction in ensuring that service members were well-supported during their transition to civilian life or their move to their next duty station.
After my military service, I utilized the skills I acquired in the Marine Corps as a customer service representative for various companies and organizations. However, due to my health condition, I am no longer employed.
I have been married to my wife, Takisha, for 24 years. We met through a mutual friend in May 2000, got married in January 2001, and have been together ever since. We have five children, all named after individuals from our respective families: David, Johanna, Alvin and Alisa. Our fifth child, Jada, has her name inspired by the first letters of her siblings’ names. I recently became a grandfather to a beautiful little girl named Charlotte.
I have been battling kidney disease for four years. Currently, I receive dialysis treatments three times a week, which have been ongoing since February 2024. These treatments have limited my mobility.
My daily routine revolves around dialysis. However, I find immense joy in spending time with my family. Whenever my health permits, I make an effort to travel and visit family members. I eagerly anticipate embarking on a global journey once I receive my kidney transplant, as my children are now grown up.
For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save David’s life with the other!
Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
