My name is Darry Ragland. I was an E-6 (SSgt) Helicopter Mechanic/ Flight Engineer on the CH-47 C-model Chinook Helicopter. I was medically retired from the United States Army. I served in both Desert Shield and Desert Storm. I am considered a wartime veteran. I made some lifelong friends while serving in the Army, but the best aspect of my career was deployments. I had the opportunity to work with some wonderful people across all branches of the service and to travel to some beautiful places.
I worked with a company called KARTS for several years. KARTS is a public, rural transportation system providing scheduled and reserved rides that are convenient, safe, affordable, and dependable. I enjoy helping people. I was a history teacher for 11 years, working with high school students, and I coached high school football. Mentoring students has been a major part of my life for the last 20 years. I have 4 wonderful children, ranging in age from 37 to 22.
