My name is Craig, and I served six years in the United States Navy as an Electronics Technician specializing in communications. I was a Vietnam veteran and served aboard the USS Lawrence (DDG-4). I was proud to receive the Navy Achievement Medal. I truly loved my job and the technical challenges that came with it. My time in the Navy gave me lifelong memories, friendships, and a deep sense of pride in having served my country.

After leaving the Navy, I continued my career in electronics. For 20 years, I repaired electron microscopes, which gave me the opportunity to work with some very sophisticated equipment and technology. I eventually became a consultant, specializing in solving vibration, acoustic, and electromagnetic-field problems for the electronics industry, universities, and research facilities around the world. I enjoyed the challenge of figuring out difficult technical problems and finding solutions that others couldn’t. I retired about 10 years ago, but I still enjoy keeping up with technology and solving problems whenever I get the chance.

My wife, Lucy, and I have been married for 42 years and have made our home in Denver, Colorado. We have two sons, Jesse and Chris, who both live nearby. Chris recently married, and Jesse is still a bachelor, so our family has recently gained a daughter-in-law while Jesse continues to keep things simple! We enjoy spending time with our sons and feel very lucky to have them close enough to be an active part of our lives.

My kidney function began deteriorating not long after my release from military service. Things came to a head in April 2026 when I had to begin dialysis. I started with hemodialysis and switched to peritoneal dialysis in June. Dialysis has certainly changed my life, but I’m doing my best to keep moving forward. What I’m really hoping for is getting a transplant, putting dialysis behind me, and getting back to the activities my wife and I enjoy.
