After graduating from college as a Distinguished Military Graduate (DMG) I joined the Army. I served for five years with one year in Vietnam as a platoon leader and Company Executive Officer. My last assignment was as the Commanding Officer of the 82d Airborne Division Parachute and Air Delivery Company, leading over 330 men. I am most proud that during my year of command we dropped over 100,000 parachutists with no fatalities.

When I left the Army, I joined a major chemical company and worked in various supervisory and managerial assignments. I retired after 39 years of service. I most enjoyed helping those people that reported to me and worked with me, grow and develop their careers. I was always mindful of the spiritual titled IF I CAN HELP SOMEBODY…”as I travel along, my living shall not be in vain.”

My family, like most people I know, is the most important thing to me. I am married and have three children and three grandchildren. My family is spread out, living in Virginia, Ohio, Texas and California and traveling to see them is a great joy. Because my family is genetically disposed to having kidney disease, they are not candidates to be kidney donors. Therefore, I am seeking help from the DOVE community to find a kidney donor.

I have Stage 5 kidney disease and in preparation to go on dialysis. I know from personal experience how challenging dialysis is. I have seen first-hand from watching my father on dialysis and saw how limiting and debilitating it is on a person. It is truly a lifestyle change that I would not want anyone to experience.

I most enjoy traveling and discovering new things about the people of the world. I also enjoy maintaining my lawn and landscaping. With the gift of a kidney, I hope to get back to traveling and visiting with family and friends and helping Santa open presents on Christmas Day and “if I can help somebody, as I travel along, my living shall not be in vain.”

For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save Clifford’s life with the other!

Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
