Charles Baron Whitlock

Army Reserve | Deceased Donor | Marine Corps | National Guard

Upon graduating from Teaneck High School in 1984, Charles joined the USMC and served for 10 years – first as a cook and then as infantry man. After being honorably discharged Charles joined the Army Reserves where he served for 5 years. He then transferred to the NY Army National Guard where he served 2 more years and then was discharged in 2001.

After rejoining the private sector, Charles began working as a Uniformed Protection Officer for the US Department of State Diplomatic Security Division – where he has stayed for the last 25 years. His most recent post is the residence of the US Ambassador the United Nations. Charles also volunteered as an EMT in Englewood NJ from 2012 to 2018. He teaches CPR/First aid in the NJ region.

During his time in the USMC, Charles was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome. His disease progressed to renal failure and he was on dialysis for 7 years before receiving a kidney transplant in 2008. The kidney transplant enabled him to stay off of dialysis for 12 years but ultimately started to fail and Charles is back on dialysis since February 2021.

Charles recently got engaged – His greatest wish is to get healthy again and be there for his future wife, Stacey. Together they plan on continuing much of the community and volunteer activities such as delivering Thanksgiving meals, supporting the Veteran’s Home in Paramus and working with the Marine Corp League in Teaneck.

Veterans like Charles have given so much to ensure our safety and freedoms. Let us help Charles get his health back so he and Stacey can enjoy this next chapter of life free from dialysis and better able to continue their life affirming community work.

For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save Charles’s life with the other!

Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
