My name is Bobby Williams, Sr. I joined the United States Army at the age of 17 and began attending Army drills during my senior year of high school in 1983. I entered the Army as a 54 Echo Chemical Decontaminator and completed my training at Fort McClellan, Alabama. My six years of service ended with the rank of Private First Class (PFC). Serving alongside some of the most dedicated Americans was an experience I will always value and appreciate.
After my time in the Army, I worked in security. During that period of my life, after apprehending a young shoplifter, I realized I wanted to do more to help others and make a greater impact. That experience led me to apply for a position with the New York City Department of Education, where I became a high school teaching assistant.
My 28 years of working with students with special needs became one of the most rewarding chapters of my life. Being able to support, encourage, and guide young people gave me a true sense of purpose and fulfillment.
During the COVID pandemic, I retired shortly after my incredible son and his wife made my wife and me proud grandparents to our precious granddaughter. She is now five years old, and while our days of babysitting her daily have ended now that she is in school, she continues to bring tremendous joy to our lives.
In 2025, I was diagnosed with severe kidney disease. I am now looking forward to receiving a kidney transplant so I can continue doing what I love most—working with and supporting our incredible youth.
We need you to help us support Bobby. Whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, you can make a profound impact!
Living kidney donation has been proven to be safe. There are no long term consequences to the donor. After recovery, donors can live a normal life with one kidney.
DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
