I served in the US Army as an 11 Charlie (mortar-man) from 1993 to 1995. I spent a year in Germany and a year at Fort Lewis near Tacoma, Washington. I loved getting to meet different people and enjoyed the traveling I was able to do. I did not see combat but would have been proud to fight alongside my fellow soldiers that did.
When I got out of the military, I went into construction and then got into my own business. Unfortunately, I sustained a serious injury on the job and was no longer able to work in construction. I needed to find another line of work, so I decided to get my CDL and have been driving trucks ever since.
I am divorced and have been blessed with a great fiancé. I have six children, two stepchildren, and five grandchildren as well. I love hanging out and having sleepovers with them all.
I have had kidney issues since 2021 and in February 2024, I was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) – kidney failure. The next month, March 2024, I started dialysis and have been doing home hemodialysis ever since. It has helped me continue doing the things I need to do.
It has not stopped me from doing anything or working. I work hard and I feel I can’t have anything stop me from my dreams of building a future for my kids and grandchildren.
I love to take the kids fishing, going for walks with the dog, BBQing, hanging out with family and watching movies. After a transplant I would love to work in the community helping others going through dialysis and encourage them to hang in there and everything will be alright.
For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save Bobby-joe’s life with the other!
Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
