Arnold “Arnie” Weiss was drafted into the US Army in 1968, had his basic training at Fort Bragg, and worked as a cook at Fort Lee in Virginia. After serving 2 years of active duty, he joined the National Guard in Teaneck, NY, and served four years.
After the reserves, Arnie worked at his father’s fur and tanning business until 1981 when he decided to drive to California and start a new life for himself working in sales in the clothing and textile business until retiring in 2020. Arnie and his wife Karen have been married for 28 years and have two adult children; his daughter is serving in the Navy. He coached his kids when they were growing up; his son in baseball and his daughter in softball. He enjoys golfing, jogging, and spending time with his family.
Arnie was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease (PKD) in 2013 and sadly, lost his father to kidney disease in 1987. Fortunately, he has not started dialysis and desires to receive a kidney transplant before it becomes necessary for survival. Will you consider sharing his story of service to his country and his need for a living kidney donor? Might you consider giving him the gift of life?
For medically cleared donors, giving the gift of life through living kidney donation has been proven to be very safe. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery. A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save Arnie’s life with the other!
Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
